Delaware hit the 1.2 million mark of domestic entities formed in the State last week. The total number of entities formed has grown by 35 percent since January 2009 when Governor Jack Markell took office, reflecting strong, continued growth of Delaware’s corporate sector.
Of the 1.2 million, some 288,000 are Delaware corporations and more than 912,000 are alternative entities.
Companies around the world choose Delaware for its predictable body of law, access to Delaware’s neutral and efficient court system, experienced legal community and the Division of Corporations.
In 2015, more companies chose Delaware as their legal home than ever before, and the State maintained that performance in the first half of 2016.
“The numbers indicate the continued confidence that companies around the globe have in Delaware entities,” says Rick Geisenberger, deputy Secretary of State and Head of Delaware’s Division of Corporations. “Delaware provides the predictability, efficiency and fairness needed for successful transactions, and remains the domicile of choice for the world’s growing entrepreneurial community.”
